John is one of Skip's very best friends -- AND we are happy to say that he is also a frequent visitor here at Skip's Beach Resort.  John, Skip, and Chip have traveled together in Thailand – Cambodia – Burma – Macau -- China – etc.  Skip says, "John is one of those guys that you can trust with your life."  Here are a few photos of John at Skip's Beach Resort, together with some of his "many" friends in the Philippines.  :-)  Also, here are some photos of John, Skip, and Chip on their trip to China (e.g. XI-AN -- SHANGHAI -- BEIJING -- WU-HAN -- THE GREAT WALL OF CHINA -- THE TERRA COTTA FIGURINES -- CRUISING THE YANGTZE --  ETC.

Jesse Lambo and Skip Ellsworth are brothers -- not by birth, but by choice.  :-)  Jesse is one of the most awesome guys on the planet, and we LOVE it whenever he and his family come to visit us here at the beach.  Jesse is totally honest, ethical, empathetic, compassionate, kind, thoughtful, considerate, hard-working, extremely intelligent, talented, and the list goes on.  For reasons too complicated to mention here, SKIP'S BEACH RESORT would not exist now except for the help that Jesse provided in the past.  Jesse is a "self-made" man -- a very successful architect -- and now retired.  Jesse and Daisy are the GOD PARENTS of DeWelle Ferguson [Chip] Ellsworth, IV -- AND DeWelle Ferguson [Flip] Ellsworth, V.  Here are a few photos of the GOD PARENT event that was held here at Daanbantayan.  In the first photo (below) Jesse and Daisy are in the front -- on the right.

Today is September 20, 2007.  We are happy to say that from now on this will be known as the date that Steve White and Ahmee Melecio (Belle’s sister) became engaged to be married.  They will be married either within two weeks – or within two days – depending upon whether Steve’s dad and mom can come here from America for the wedding.  If the parents can attend, then we will wait for them.  If they can not attend, then the wedding will take place as soon as possible.  The photos below were taken at the “Engagement Dinner” which was held here at Skip’s Beach Resort. Frankly, we were starting to wonder if Steve (now 36 years old) would ever get married.  We think it is ironic that Steve has dated at least half of the women in the world (many of whom were beautiful, rich, famous, sophisticated, worldly, etc.) but his heart was never captured by anyone until he met this totally captivating 18 year old “country-girl” (from a small island in the Philippines) that had never even held hands with a boy before she met Steve.

After the wedding Steve will be Skip’s “brother-in-law," and he will also be an “uncle” to Skip’s children (some of whom are much older than Steve).  Also, Skip will be an “uncle” to each of the 12 kids that Steve and Ahmee will undoubtedly have.  Hey... that's a BEAUTIFUL engagement ring, Ahmee, and it is positive proof that all of the other photos on this website that show Steve with other girls are hereby rendered null and void.

Tom was one of Skip's student's in America in 1982.  He first came to the Philippines on December 19, 2006, to visit Skip and to stay at Skip's Beach Resort.  The photo below was taken the next day, as Tom was talking with one of his new friends at the Dublin Hospital Pharmacy.  From the looks of things, Tom might be staying here for a loooooooooong time.  We hope so, because he's an awesome guy.

The photo of Tom (immediately below) was taken on December 24, 2006 -- one week after he arrived in the Philippines.  With the help of his new friend (in the red T-shirt) we think Tom is already becoming addicted to this country.

WHOOPS... NOW IT LOOKS LIKE TOM MIGHT BE IN "LOVE":  Now that Tom has met "BETH" it looks like he might be thinking about staying in the Philippines FOREVER.    :-)   Beth has been Skip's good friend for many years.  She is currently in the process of getting a Master's Degree in Education, and she is one of the nicest girls in the world.  Listen carefully... do you hear "wedding bells" ??? !!! ??? !!! ???

SEPTEMBER 19, 2007 --  A NEWS FLASH REGARDING THE "ENGAGEMENT" (YES... "ENGAGEMENT") OF TOM AND BETH Tom and Beth just came to Skip's Beach Resort (see photos directly below) to announce the fact that they are currently engaged to be married -- and to invite us to their "ENGAGEMENT-AND-GOING-AWAY-PARTY" that will be held on Friday, September 21, 2007, at 5 PM.   The party will be held at Beth's beautiful home here in Daanbantayan.  They have already obtained a Fiancé Visa for Beth (so she can go to America) -- and they are leaving for AMERICA on Saturday, September 22.  Beth will get to see, and live in, the beautiful log home that Tom built after he attended Skip's class in log home building in 1982.

SEPTEMBER 21, 2007 AT 4:45 PM -- PHOTOS OF THE ENGAGEMENT PARTY:  We went to Tom and Beth’s party early so we could take photos before all of the guests arrived.  As is the custom here in the Philippines, two pigs were roasted for this delightful occasion -- together with enough other food to feed an entire army.  Beth and Tom will leave for America on Saturday, and they plan to be married there.  While they are living in America, Beth’s family will live in her beautiful home here in Daanbantayan, Cebu, Philippines (see photos of her home below).  We know that Tom and Beth will live happily ever after – no matter where they decide to live permanently.

Jon is one of Skip's former students from America -- and one of Skip's best friends. He came to the Philippines to visit Skip and stay at SKIPS BEACH RESORT, and he is now living permanently in "Skip's" town of Daanbantayan.  John is addicted to risky sports -- such as para-gliding (or whatever they call it) -- rock climbing -- leaping off cliffs while hanging onto kites -- etc.  He is also now addicted to Jeila -- a wonderful girl he met (via Skip and Belle) in Daanbantayan on his first day here.  John and Jeila have rented a nice home in Daanbantayan, and we are told that wedding bells will soon be ringing...  WOW !!!  John is now living less than half a mile from our beach, and he is one of the many people that bring lap-top computers to our beach on a daily basis to use our free wireless high-speed internet connection.

Skip and Frank met each other in Cebu City in approximately 1996, and they have been very good friends ever since that time. Frank often stays with us here at the beach.  In fact, Frank has stayed at Skip's huge log  home in America for months at a time -- and Skip often stays with Frank and his wife at their lovely home in Cebu City.  The two photos directly below were taken during Frank's wedding to lovely Leanora.  Frank and his bride are in the center of the  first photo, with Skip and Belle standing next to them.  Skip was the "sponsor" of this wedding [which is sort of like being what we call "BEST MAN" in an American wedding], as indicated by the photo of him signing the wedding documents in the presence of the Judge.   [We regret say... Frank is no longer among the living.  On the other hand, he will always live in our hearts.  R.I.P.]

This is our friend Burgess Newman.  At this point he has stayed at our little resort on two different occasions.  He is from Canada – America – Central America – South America (e.g. most recently he lived for one year in Bolivia ) – and he is currently enjoying life as a retired soldier-of-fortune-vagabond-world-traveler.  When the following photos were taken, he had just returned to our beach from diving at the Island of Malapascua, which is located approximately one hour away from here by jeepney and boat.  Warning:  Don’t play pool with Burgess for money, unless you’ve got a lot of money to lose.  It appears to us that Burgess came to the Philippines because he is a bachelor – a scuba diver – and a connoisseur of good rum – a connoisseur of beautiful women, etc.   Chip's exact words were... "Burgess is a very good conversationalist, dad."  According to Burgess, he felt the same way about Chip.   Burgess and Skip have a good mutual friend named Jim Bibb – who is currently living in Bolivia.  Here is a big “howdy” to Jim and Burgess, wherever you guys are at this time.  We miss you and we hope to see you soon.

Chuck and his wife have been Skip's good friends for many years.  They have stayed at Skip's log home in America -- and Skip has stayed in their home in Tucson, Arizona.  They have lived both in America and in the Philippines, and will be re-establishing a home in the Philippines in the near future.  This photo was taken in the "private lounge area" at Skip's Beach Resort.  [We just received word that Chuck and his daughter will be arriving in Cebu in May, 2007.  We can hardly wait.]

This is Skip's good friend (and a frequent guest at the resort), Robert Doss -- from Alaska, U.S.A.  Robert has come to the Philippines to stay with us on many different occasions. Robert is an awesome guy, and he is now in love with a local girl named Belinda Rosales.  WOW !!!

Steve White and Skip are business associates -- together with "Ellsworth" (no first name or middle name), Skip's youngest son in America.  Therefore, we are happy to say that Steve comes from America to visit us very often.  Steve was one of Skip's students in America, and also he has been one of Skip's best friends for many, many years.   Although this photo shows Steve with one of his friends ("Emily"), he is now married to "Ahmee," the sister of Skip's wife.  Therefore, he travels back and forth between here and America VERY frequently.

This photo is of Robin Stumbo (and friend).  Robin was one of Skip's student's in America perhaps in 1978 (???), and he has been one of Skip's best friends since that time. This photo was taken at the Taoist Temple on the Island of Cebu here in the Philippines.  [Robin is the ultimate example of a Jack-of-all-Trades.  Essentially, if Robin can't fix something, then it isn't broken.]

Dar was one of Skip's students in America many years ago.  Skip told Dar about the Philippines, and that was all it took.  Dar has now been living in the Philippines for several years.   He is married a wonderful girl from Luzon -- and he is in the process of living happily ever after.  We always love it when Dar comes to visit here at the beach. [Alas... we just received word that Dar is no longer among the living.  However, he will always be with us in our hearts.

These are our friends Glenn and Marichu.  Glenn owns a beautiful vineyard in Australia.  His grapes consistently produce some of the best wine in the world.  Of course, Glenn is a wine connoisseur.  Fortunately for us, he often brings us a bottle of his excellent wine when he comes to visit.  Because Skip has not has a drink of alcohol in 35 years – and Belle has never had a drink of alcohol, we are saving the wine for a special occasion – perhaps Chip’s wedding.  Chip is only 13 years old now, but he is quite adult for his age.  Who knows… it might not be long before we hear wedding bells. Here are three bottles of wine that Glenn gave us.  Here are the latest photos of Glenn and Marichu – taken at Skip’s Beach on October 22, 2007.  We are hoping that Glenn will be retiring soon – and living permanently in the Philippines.  We would love to have these folks as neighbors.

John is one of our best friends and customers.  He is a retired long-shore-man from Tacoma, Washington, and he is now living permanently in Cebu City.   His brother also stays here when he comes from America to visit John.  These guys often ride motorcycles with Skip and Chip.  The photos (below) of John and one of his girl friends (for the past two years) was taken on December 26, 2006.  Whoops... on the most recent trip it appears that the girl in the last photo has replaced the girl in the "other" photos.

This is our friend Steven, who came here  from California -- stayed with us here at SKIP'S BEACH RESORT-- and is now living permanently on the Island of Siquijor.  Steven is an awesome guy, and loved by everyone.

SKIP’S MILITARY FRIENDS – CLYDE AND STACY:   Skip says these two guys are among the best soldiers in the world.  He also said… “These two guys are very patriotic Americans, and I’m proud that we are friends.”

SKIP'S MILITARY FRIENDS -- FRANK AND DAVE -- AND THE PARTY THEY GAVE FOR EVERYONE HERE:  Skip says it would be impossible to find two better men -- or two better warriors.  Skip is very proud to have patriotic friends like these and he greatly enjoys their visits here at the beach.  On this visit, Frank and Dave bought a pig -- roasted it -- and had a party for the rest of the hotel guests.  At this writing (May 6, 2007) Frank is here again, with his beautiful and charming wife.  We will take some photos of them before they leave -- and add the photos here.

MIKE LAMOY AND HIS GOOD FRIEND:   Mike is another of Skip's very patriotic military friends.  This photo was taken during his first visit with us.   Whoops... it appears that Mike is being distracted by something.  We would love to have a re-union here for all of our military friends.  We will discuss it with Mike if we can get his attention.  :-)

STEVE GORE, HIS WIFE, AND THEIR LOVELY DAUGHTER: Steve and his family are frequent visitors here.  Steve was a Private Investigator (a "P. I.") in America, but he is now retired and has been living in the Philippines for most of the past 12 years.  He and his wife just finished building a huge new home on the Island of Cebu (approximately 30 minutes from Skip's Beach Resort) and they are in the process of living happily ever after.  :-)

WILLIAM AND TESSIE MOGG:  These delightful guests are from Dumaguette City, which is located on the nearby island of Negros.  William was a real-estate investor and contractor in America prior to retiring and moving to the Philippines.  In Dumaguete, William is famous for organizing huge parties for his friends.

DAN FAGERLIEDan is from the small town of Republic, at the northeastern part of Washington State, in the U.S.A.  He is the County Extension Agent, and he came to the Philippines as a consultant.  Also, in America he and Skip have a mutual friend named Jay Randall.  Also, Skip is a friend of one of Dan's relatives (Horace Fagerlie -- R.I.P. -- a pig farmer in Redmond, Washington) who died approximately 40 years ago.  Therefore, while Dan was in the Philippines, he came to the Island of Cebu just to visit Skip and hang out for a few days.  Skip says that Dan is one of the nicest guys he has ever met.  They had an awesome time riding motorcycles together -- discussing various aspects of American law -- and being confused about MANY aspects of American politics.

AWESOME SWEDISH GIRLS:  Because of a problem regarding a Jeepney to Maya these three girls arrived at our resort in the middle of the night.  It was a very dark night (totally black) -- raining -- and the wind was blowing when we opened the door and saw them standing there.  They were very much afraid, and they desperately wanted to rent a room for the night.  Unfortunately, we didn’t have any rooms available.  Therefore, we put mattresses on the floor of our lobby, and they spent the night with us – for free.  The next morning they had breakfast with us (free) and then went on their way.  A few weeks later, when they got back to Sweden, they sent us a wonderful "care-package" containing Swedish candy, cookies, and a lot of other goodies.  Since then, we have heard from them often.  We are hoping that these awesome girls will come to visit us again someday soon.

Barry is a gold miner from Australia.  He is a good friend, an awesome guy, and we learned a lot about gold mining by talking with him.  If you knew how much money he makes as a "gold miner," you would probably want to be on the next airplane to Australia.

This is our friend Dodong, who formerly worked for us here at the beach.  He came for a visit this evening (Wednesday, October 24, 2007) with his friend and current co-worker.   Dodong married one of the girls (Jen-Jen) who worked with him here.  After they got married, the happy couple then built a home of their own at the other side of Daanbantayan and they now have a baby boy that will soon be two years old.

BELOW IS ONE OF OUR AMERICAN FRIENDS LOOKING AT PROPERTY FOR SALE NEAR THE RESORT:  The photos directly below show our good friend (and frequent hotel-guest) Jon Hudson -- together with Skip's son Chip -- examining a very large piece of property located five minutes from Skip's Beach Resort.  Jon is considering buying this property and starting a farm that will make him self-sufficient (fruit, vegetables, livestock, chickens, pigs, etc.).  We are examining the property with him.  We love it, Jon !!!

"The study of history is a powerful antidote to contemporary arrogance. It is humbling

discovered to be, at great human cost, wholly false."
